Siblings Day
April 10 All day
Siblings Day is celebrated on April 10 in parts of the United States and Canada. In several European countries, a similar celebration known as Brothers and Sisters Day is observed on May 31. The day honors the lifelong bond between brothers and sisters of all ages.
Siblings Day was founded by Claudia Evart in 1995 after the loss of her own siblings. She established the Siblings Day Foundation to recognize and celebrate the unique relationship shared by siblings a bond often described as one of the longest-lasting relationships in a person’s life.
Although widely celebrated across the U.S. and Canada, Siblings Day is not a federal public holiday. Over time, the observance has gained international recognition, with European countries celebrating a similar occasion on May 31.
Siblings Day honors:
- Lifelong friendship and shared memories
- Family connection and unconditional support
- The role siblings play in personal growth
- Bonds that endure from childhood through adulthood
The day provides an opportunity to express gratitude, appreciation, and love for brothers and sisters whether biological, adopted, step, or chosen family.
