International Panda Day

March 16 All day

International Panda Day (also known as National Panda Day) is celebrated annually on March 16 to raise awareness about the conservation of giant pandas, their endangered status, and the protection of their habitats. While some sources recognize October 27 through WWF China, March 16 is widely observed as a day to support global efforts to protect this beloved species.

Why we celebrate it:
We celebrate International Panda Day to highlight the urgent need to protect giant pandas from threats like habitat loss and low birth rates. Pandas are a national treasure in China and a globally recognized symbol of wildlife conservation. Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, the giant panda’s status was downgraded from “endangered” to “vulnerable” in 2016.
